Hellooooo, pups and pals! Welcome to the very first Ruff Pups Pawcast! I’m your golden-furred host, Rusty Ruff—fetcher of smiles, champion of pep talks, and proud graduate of Barkington Academy for Canine Cheerleaders! Ruff ruff! Oh, and believe me, this tail’s wagging so hard I might just knock over the microphone! Mrs. Ruff, are you as tail-wagging excited as me?

I absolutely am, Rusty! Hi everyone—I'm Mrs. Ruff, your fifth-grade teacher and, I guess, your co-host slash “pack leader” on this adventure. Our classroom is all about joy, building our pack, and bringing out the best in each student. I really, truly believe every day should be full of learning, laughter, and kindness—ideally all at once, if we can swing it.

That’s PAW-some! If you’ve ever seen me at an assembly, you know I’ve got a ton of school spirit. But—wanna hear a secret, Mrs. Ruff? My first time as mascot, I was so nervous I accidentally tripped on a stray tennis ball right in front of the whole gym. No joke! Fell flat, ears in my eyes, bandana over my nose—ruff, it was a mess! But then the kids just started giggling, and suddenly, instead of stage fright, the whole gym was just this big, happy, laughing family. That’s when I realized—if you roll with it, even a fumble can turn into the best moment of the day.

You know, Rusty, that’s exactly the spirit I love! Sometimes we learn more from the giggles and goof-ups than when everything’s perfect—and we definitely find a way to celebrate together. And, I promise, I’ll do my best to help keep your paws on track. Well—most of the time!

So, what are we sniffing out here each week on the Pawcast? Glad you asked! Each episode is like a surprise tennis ball—you never know what you’re gonna get, but it’s always fun. We’ll spotlight our Top Dog of the Week, give out PAW-sitive shout-outs to kids who've shown leadership, kindness, or teamwork, and share tail-wagging classroom stories. Oh, and my favorite: joke time! You can bet I’m gonna sneak in a few every episode—so stay on your paws.

That’s right, Rusty! We’re also going beyond the classroom with our learning-at-home tips, so families can grab some simple, practical ideas. And our Pack Challenge of the Week? That one's big—I love seeing students take on a challenge and make a difference. It’s amazing what happens when kids reach for a challenge and combine kindness and fun into part of everyday school life.

Plus, each week we hand out cozy affirmations to remind you: you’re seen, you’re valued, and you’re part of this pack no matter what. We stand for PRs big three Being Respectful, responsible and safe but we go beyond that as Ruff pups we value kindness, teamwork, leadership… all those things that turn fifth grade into something bigger than just homework and tests. We believe in celebrating progress—big, small, or somewhere in-between.
